If your garage door has extension springs, this page is going to be informative for you. I quote prices for replacement of these springs here.
Question: How much does it cost to have the extension springs on my garage door replaced?
Answer: $225. This is an estimate to replace both extension springs on a 7 foot tall, single wide residential garage door that weighs between 70 and 130 pounds.
This covers basically all residential garage doors that use extension springs, except one piece doors and very heavy doors that should be on torsion and need a conversion. Heavy doors. Garage doors weighing more than 130 pounds, in my opinion, should be on torsion, not extension springs. I do extension to torsion conversions for those doors. One piece doors. At this time I don’t offer replacements of extension springs for one piece doors. One piece doors are exceedingly rare in this part of the country.
What’s included?
This estimate includes the trip charge, the springs (2), the labor to replace them and removal and disposal of the old springs. So, just to be clear, the Total Price for this project is $225. This project comes with a One Year parts and labor warranty.
8 foot tall doors: Most 8′ tall doors are on torsion originally, but rarely they can have extension springs. The price for replacing those is $275. If you have an 8′ tall door, please make sure to mention that when making an appointment.
