Estimate for torsion spring replacement on an 8×8 steel garage door
This is an 8×8 steel garage door that has a broken spring. It has no insulation and no windows. Today the door gets a new spring. This door is about ten years old and has been maintained well.
Both torsion cables are loose and or hanging. This is normal because the spring is broken. The cables are not broken and will be reused unless we notice some actual damage to them.
Disassemble the system and oil the bearings.
The new spring installed and wound up. This time I was able to install a larger spring than the original. This door works great now and the new spring will last longer than the original did.
The total price for this repair was $300, which includes a three year parts and labor warranty. This repair would cost the same if the door was 8×7 or 9×7 or 9×8. The door could be uninsulated like this one or it might have basic insulation. Steelback doors not included but would not cost much more.
